That kind of support used to live on Main Street. The CPA had a banner over an office downtown, knew every owner by name, knew their kids, and handled everything from the books to the tax return to the late-night call when something went sideways. Over the last few decades, that shop all but disappeared. The profession consolidated into large firms serving large corporate clients — and Main Street was left with a patchwork of bookkeepers, payroll services, and once-a-year tax preparers stitched together to do the job one firm used to do.
The CPAs left Main Street. The businesses didn't. The electrician with a couple of vans. The therapist with a full caseload. The shop owner doing real money but staring at the bank balance and guessing. These are real businesses with real complexity, and they deserve a real financial partner — not a once-a-year stranger. That's the gap Mantle was built to fill.
We come from Deloitte, KPMG, and PwC. We learned the craft serving sophisticated clients on complex work, and we wanted to bring that same standard — the licensed CPA, the technical depth, the year-round attention — back to the businesses that build, fix, feed, and care for their communities.
We also work differently than the large firms we came from. No polished email chains. No two-week scheduling windows. No layers between you and the person doing the work. We pick up the phone. We meet at our office or yours. We sit down over a coffee or a meal. The work is better when the relationship is real. It's the firm we always wanted to work with but didn't see in the marketplace — so we built it.

The story behind Mantle
Mantle is named after Sean's late maternal grandfather — his greatest role model.
Abandoned by his parents in middle school during their struggle with addiction, at a time when America had no real foster care system to catch him, he survived one of the toughest upbringings imaginable. At twelve years old, he dropped out of middle school and went to work full-time on the docks of New York — without parents, without relatives, without any support of any kind. The stories from those years are ones few people could believe.
Despite circumstances that could have easily broken him, he went on to build a long career as a truck driver, raise multiple children, and live a long retirement in the Florida sun, as so many New Yorkers do. The hardship he survived built the foundation for everyone who came after him.
In his final years, he often said how proud he was of the life he'd built. But he also hinted, more than once, that if his circumstances had been different, his dream would have been to own his own accounting firm. He loved numbers. He loved hard work. He loved working with people.
